The documentary short “On What's Important” is an optimistic story of old age in a Georgian small town. The heyday of septuagenarian Otari's generation was in the Brezhnev era, now life has changed. What are the important things a man holds on to in this situation and time of life? Otari holds on to the barbell. He is the only septuagenarian to participate in Georgia bench press championship. The Last Day of School
Near Russian border, there is a small school with less than 27 children studying there. This july it was closed for good. The story is not an unique one, on the contrary- young people leaving the countryside, schools closing down, leaving deserted villages- it is a common conversation topic in Latvia. Despite the fact that there are only a few months left, both teachers and students seem to have an optimistic attitude and they keep working.
